Personal comments: Bartholomew Park Winery has one of the best picnic spots in the valley, and it is complemented by Bartholomew Park itself, which is a recreation of the house of Agoston Harazsthy, who started viticulture in California. The house now contains wonderful historical exhibits about Frank Bartholomew and his wife Antonia. Frank was an accomplished journalist and Antonia recreated Harazsthy's villa and gave it to the Bartholomew Foundation. Be prepared to spend some leisurely time here -- visiting the museum, tasting some wine, and having a lovely picnic. - Roy Tennant
